  &nbs= p;     Welcome to Business Law. I trust that= this will be an interesting and challenging learning experience for you. Please come to class prepared and = ready to participate!

        &= nbsp;   I believe that most students are eager to contribute to an atmosphere of learning, but I do have a few guidelines upon which I insist:

1.      =       Arriving late for class is disruptive to the students and the Instructor. Therefore, tardiness will not be tolerated. The classroom door= will be shut at the start of class and will re-open at a quarter past the hour.<= span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'> Students who are not present at the start of class will not be permitted to enter class until quarter past the hour. If a quiz is given that= day, the student will not be permitted to take the quiz. Students who are late to class thr= ee times will be assessed an unexcused absence. Students that are late more than t= hree times will be marked as absent for every additional class that they arrive late. If you have a schedule conflict that regularly prevents you from being punctua= l, please see me.

2.&n= bsp;           If you need to miss a class for some legitimate reason, please do not contact me to find out what we did, or are going to do. You should conta= ct a classmate to find out what we covered.&nbs= p; Please do not call or send an email to find out if it is “OK” to miss class. Attendance is your decision. Remember, an excessive number of unexcused absences (3) will result = in a lowering of your final grade. Student’s claiming that an absence is excused MUST provide evidence of this from Counseling or Health Services (doctor’s note.)<= span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'> If a student has more than three unexcused absences, the student’s final grade will be adversely affected= . Students with ten (10) or more une= xcused absences will find it difficult to receive a passing grade in this class.

3.      =    Late papers, assignments, projects, etc. will generally not be accepted at all. Documented medical excuses and university-sanctioned events are legitimate exceptions.

4.         I recognize that you= may not always agree with my assessment of your performance on an assignment or exam. If you can provide well-reasoned and articulate arguments that I have missed something, I will reconsider your grade. Keep in mind that I will do so “from scratch.” Y= our grade could go up or it could go down.

5.         “I need this g= rade for my scholarship, GPA, parents, employer, etc.” are not valid reaso= ns for me to reconsider my assessment of your work. Please come to me with reasons tha= t you deserve a higher grade, not that you need it. You earn the g= rade, I merely record what you have earned.
