Mission Statement

My personal mission is to be a diligent scholar of both the Word and the world in which God has placed me; to have ever deepening spiritual growth that I may be like Christ in Holiness and in pursuit of Unity; to practice an unmitigated service in and for the Kingdom of God.

Biographical Information

I was born in Bakersfield, CA to Richard L and Loredda Kyker.  I have an older sister [Vicki] and a younger brother [R. Lauren].  Upon graduation from North High School in Bakersfield I headed to Gulf Coast Bible College [Houston, TX] where my aunt and uncle were on faculty.  There I met and married James T [Jim] Hawkins.  Over the next 15 years we pastored in California, Arizona, and Oklahoma – and had two children: Alysia [now married to Bryan Ashmore] and Timothy.  In 1990 our family moved to Kenya to work with the Church of God College at Kima [now Kima International School of Theology].  We returned to the states in 1998 so that Jim could assume the senior pastorate at South Bay Church of God in Torrance, CA and I could finish my doctorate at Fuller.
